Abstract
Empis (Enoplempis) subgeneatis sp. nov. urn:lsid:zoobank.org:act: BF8CC15F-C0A9-450A-81E1-5713DED3EA09 (Figs 187, 192) Type material. HOLOTYPE ♂, labelled: “Alsea [44°22′N 123°35′W]/ Ore. 4-26-29”; J.E. Davis / Coll.”; “ Empis / (Pogoenempis)/ geneatis/ Melander/ det. WJ Turner 1978”; “ HOLOTYPE / Empis (Enoplempis) / subgeneatis Sinclair,/ Brooks & Cumming [red label]” [dissected] (OSAC). PARATYPE: USA. Oregon: Washington County: Banks [45°36′N 123°06′W], 20.v.1964, Blk. light trap, K. Goeden (ODAC). Possible additional material (unassociated females). USA. Oregon: Benton County: Corvalis, Lewisburg Saddle ck below Old Growth Tr., 44.6423°N 123.2891°W, MT, 29.iii–23.iv.2013, SJF (1♀, CNC); same data except, 44°38′32.28″N 123°17′20.76″W, MT over ck, 23.iv–6.v.2013 (1♀, CNC); Marys Peak, 12 mi. W Corvallis, 3800 ft, 10.vi.1984, Darling (1♀, ROM). Diagnosis. This species is very similar to E. (En.) geneatis, distinguished by its larger size (wing length more than 6 mm), dense dorsal setae on the male hind femur, length more than twice femur width, and the male cercus is more rounded dorsally. Description. Wing length 6.2–6.5 mm. Male. Similar to E. (En.) geneatis, except as follows: head with ocellar triangle with several pairs of posterior setulae. Scape 5× longer than pedicel. Scutum without pair of greyish vittae. Postpronotum with numerous short, silky setae. Notopleuron clothed in long silky setae; 1 long pal and short silky setulae. Scutellum with pair of long sctl, with numerous pairs of long silky marginal setae. Fore femur clothed in long, wavy setae, longer dorsally and posteriorly. Fore tibia with long posterodorsal setae, 3× longer than width of tibia; ventrally with fine, dense setae, subequal to width of segment. Hind tibia evenly expanded apically, not broader than femur distally. Terminalia (Fig. 187): cercus broader than epandrium, suboval, rounded dorsally. Female. Not confirmed. Geographical distribution and seasonal occurrence (Fig. 192). Empis (En.) subgeneatis sp. nov. is known from Oregon. Adults have been collected in April and May and also possibly March and June. Etymology. The species name is in reference to the similarity of this species with E. geneatis. Nuptial gift presentation. Form unknown.
Fetched live from OpenAlex and de-inverted. Abstracts are not stored in this database: the inverted indexes are 8.6 GB of the frame’s 9.3 GB of text, and the host has 13 GB free.

Full frame machine prediction
Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one source (direct Gemma or distilled Codex), not a consensus.
