Abstract
In June 2019, Trent and Peak Archaeology were commissioned by National Trust to conduct a watching brief on intrusive groundworks scheduled on land at Sudbury Hall prior to ducting and laying of fibreoptic cables. The investigation involved monitoring the excavation of a trench 78m x 0.3m-1m through land between the former stables (SK 1596 3209) and the South Lodge (SK 1601 3209) Excavation revealed a fairly uniform stratigraphy of topsoil, subsoil and made ground; no archaeological finds, features or deposits were located during this watching brief.
