Abstract
Depuis le milieu du XIXe siècle jusqu’au milieu du siècle suivant (1850-1950), la sociologie a occupé une position privilégiée dans les cercles catholiques francophones qui se souciaient d’investigation sociale. Pourtant, cette page du développement des sciences sociales en France, en Belgique, en Italie et au Canada, qui souhaitait mettre l’Église catholique à la page des approches scientifiques nouvelles, n’a fait l’objet que de peu de travaux de la part des historiens francophones. Ce colloque international entend dégager les étapes de développement de cette tradition sociologique.
