Abstract
Taxonomic diversity within the boreal caribou distribution, based on the inverse Berger-Parker index of 80 considered species/population distributions and their corresponding taxonomic group. Values ≥ 2.25 are considered to be a 'hotspot', based on the 75th percentile of a corresponding Canada-wide taxonomic diversity layer. Most species/population distributions were from the Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) 'Range Map extents - Species at Risk' data set (https://open.canada.ca/data/en/dataset/d00f8e8c-40c4-435a-b790-980339ce3121) which is compiled from a combination of NatureServe (https://www.natureserve.org/) data, species at risk recovery strategies, ECCC resources and COSEWIC status reports. Some species/population distributions were digitized by project members, based on figures in COSEWIC status reports, or other federal or provincial government reports.
