Abstract
Deux cents sujets âgés de 65 ans ou plus, recrutés dans quatre unités de médecine familiale, ont évalué l'acceptabilité de trois traitements pour la dépression gériatrique : la thérapie cognitive (TC), la bibliothérapie cognitive (BC) et les médicaments antidépresseurs (MA). Les résultats démontrent que l'acceptabilité des traitements varie en fonction de la sévérité des symptômes du client auquel le traitement est destiné. La TC et la BC sont plus acceptables que les MA lorsque les symptômes sont de sévérité légère à modérée. Cependant, la TC est plus acceptable que les deux autres traitements lorsque les symptômes sont sévères. De plus, l'acceptabilité des traitements n'est pas reliée aux symptômes dépressifs de la personne qui porte ce jugement. La discussion examine les implications pratiques des résultats obtenus.
