Abstract
Ce rapport estime l’impact d’un programme visant à augmenter le taux de diplomation au niveau secondaire des jeunes provenant d’un milieu défavorisé dans la région de Sherbrooke. Nous estimons l’effet de ce programme sur le rendement scolaire dans les trois matières de base (mathématiques, français, et anglais) en utilisant la méthode des doubles différences. Chaque jour de participation supplémentaire au programme augmente les notes de 0,16 % en mathématiques et de 0,17 % en français. L’effet est plus marqué après 1740 jours de participation, dans ce cas le rendement scolaire augmente de 5,8 % en mathématiques, de 5,3 % en français et de 3,9 % en anglais. Finalement, nous estimons la valeur financière du programme en utilisant la répercussion d’une augmentation du rendement en mathématiques sur le revenu futur. Pour une cohorte de 35 élèves participant au moins 1740 jours, le programme peut valoir entre 515 000 $ et 680 000 $.
