Abstract
Built at Kingston, Ont. in 1895 by and for the Folger Bros. as the "America," a side wheel steamer, she ran on the Thousand Island route on Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River. She was later owned by the Richelieu & Ontario Nav. Co. division of the Canada Steamship Lines. She went to Georgian Bay and was rebuilt as an oil screw propellor around 1935-36, and renamed "Midland City." She was operated until at least 1944 by the Georgian Bay Tourist Co. among the 30,000 islands of Georgian Bay, having Midland, Ont. and Parry Sound as terminals. These cruises were on the inside route not available to ordinary lake steamers, and at times winds its way almost to the jagged edges of the rocks along the route. Final disposition is unknown.
