Abstract
Innvandrerelever presterer globalt sett dårligere enn den øvrige befolkningen. Dette har også konsistent vært tilfellet i Norge, men ikke i Canada. Denne oppgaven undersøker i hvilken grad elevprestasjoner mellom første- og andregenerasjonsinnvandrere i Norge og Canada varierer. Datasettet som blir benyttet er hentet fra PIRLS 2001, som undersøker internasjonale leseferdigheter. Ved å benytte OLS som økonometrisk metode, blir det etablert en skoleproduktfunksjon og som gjennom utvidelser inkluderer flere relevante karakteristikker som påvirker testresultatene. Konklusjonen er at det er en forskjell i elevprestasjoner mellom landene; Norges førstegenerasjonsinnvandrere presterte bedre enn de kanadiske, mens Norges andregenerasjonsinnvandrere presterte dårligere enn de kanadiske.
