Abstract
Le terme métis ne renvoie ici qu'au métissage dans les sociétés coloniales antillaises nées à partir du seizième siècle. Loin des définitions qui le posent comme un être parodique dans un discours de fiction, la figure du métis est un objet anthropologique des sociétés antillaises. Le métis placé hors de l'espace social métis qui le conditionne est un point de vue de la représentation coloniale qui a toujours réfuté la société nouvelle portée par la dynamique du projet colonial, débordant les cadres qui le constituent. La société inédite est un fait historique, social et culturel. Réintégrer le métis dans sa dimension constitutive du réel antillais, c'est du même coup, postuler le Soi social antillais, réceptacle de l'unité d'expérience dont le réel antillais est porteur.
