Abstract
La declaració de 2011 com a Any Internacional de la Química és una iniciativa de la IUPAC i la UNESCO que fou decretada por la Assemblea General de Nacions Unides el 30 de desembre de 2008. Sota el lema "Chemistry: our life, our future" ("Química: la nostra vida, el nostre futur") es proposa realitzar una sèrie d'activitats per demostrar la importància de la química com a eina fonamental per a satisfer les necessitats de la societat i també promoure l'interès per la química entre els joves. Durant l'any 2011 es celebraran activitats commemoratives de l'any internacional de la química arreu del món que incidiran en diferents àmbits i estaran dirigides a tota la societat en general. El cartell oficial de l'Any de la Química, presentat a l'acte d'inauguració del curs 2010-2011, ha estat escollit després d'un concurs en que han participat estudiants de les escoles d'art i disseny Eina i Massana, adscrites a la UAB.
