En este 2020 se cumplen treinta años del primer levantamiento indígena ocurrido en junio de 1990. Su conmemoración está signada por otro levantamiento, el noveno, ocurrido en octubre de 2019. Una de las ideas extendidas hasta antes de octubre, era que el movimiento indígena atravesaba una crisis estructural de largo alcance. Luego de octubre se volvió a ubicar al movimiento indígena en el centro de la lucha político-social del país. Floresmilo Simbaña, Nina Pacari, Inti Cartuche, Ampam Karakras, Inés Zambrano, Luz María Romero, Adriana Rodríguez, Dolores Figueroa, Marco León, Ileana Almeida (en entrevista con Philipp Altmann), Ruth Moya (en entrevista con Luis Herrera y Adriana Rodríguez) y Marc Becker, analizan el proceso, memoria y avances del movimiento indígena. Retoman y discuten el proceso histórico del sujeto político que ha influido de manera significativa en los últimos treinta años de la vida del Ecuador.
