Il testo, partendo da fonti d'archivio inedite, ripercorre un tratto della formazione della collezione del Museo di Antropologia di Vancouver (Canada) . \nIn particolare si prende in considerazione un nucleo di documenti dove si connette la fine delle cerimonie tradizionali (potlatch) dei nativi della costa nordoccidentale del Canada ad una maggiore disponibilità di oggetti sacri messi a disposizione dei musei.
