La investigación se realizó entre Noviembre 2015 y Enero 2016, en el Matadero Municipal de la Ciudad de Huancabamba, que da servicio a ganaderos procedentes de los distritos de Huancabamba, El Carmen de la Frontera, Sóndor y Sondorillo; pertenecientes a la provincia de Huancabamba, Departamento de Piura. Tuvo como objetivo comparar la información epidemiológica de las parasitosis producida por Fasciola hepatica y Paramphistomun sp. en los animales sacrificados en dicho establecimiento, con finalidad de determinar la frecuencia de los animales afectados según la especie, sexo, edad y procedencia. Se evaluaron 309 bovinos, 177 ovinos, 38 caprinos y 185 porcinos, totalizando 709 animales de los cuales 279 (39,35%) estaban afectados por Fasciola hepatica, y ninguno por Paramphistomun sp. Los bovinos presentan la mayor prevalencia a fasciolasis (67,31%), seguido por los ovinos (36,72%) y caprinos (15,79%). No se encontraron porcinos positivos. Respecto al sexo, sólo en la especie bovina se observó que las hembras (68,70%) están estadísticamente más afectadas que los machos (59,57%). Fasciola hepatica afecta de manera similar a todas las edades. Según la procedencia, El Carmen de La Frontera (70%) y Sóndor (61,86%) son los distritos más prevalentes, seguidos por Huancabamba (35,80%) y Sondorillo (25,71%). Se concluye que los cuatro distritos son altamente prevalentes a fasciolasis bovina, ovina y caprina. Al no haber evidencia de Paramphistomun sp. en los rumiantes sacrificados en el Matadero Municipal de Huancabamba, se concluye que es una enfermedad exótica o de muy baja prevalencia.
