Abstract
El presente artículo intenta indagar en la historia del Uruguay reciente, concretamente en las experiencias socioculturales y políticas vividas por este país del Cono Sur de América en el último cuarto del siglo XX. La razón de esta elección parte de la permanencia en la actualidad de una serie de conflictos que tienen que ver con las memorias individuales, sociales, grupales e históricas de un reciente pasado traumático. La fractura institucional del sistema democrático representado por la dictadura cívico militar (1973-1985) marcó y marca una inflexión que ha dejado sus huellas más allá de la recuperación democrática a partir de 1985. The present essay explores recent Uruguayan history, specifically those socio-cultural and political events experienced in the last quarter of the XX century. The reason for selecting this period is based on the continuous presence in contemporary society of a series of conflicts related to individual, social, collective and historical memories originating in a recent traumatic past. The institutional fracture inside a political system -represented by the civil-military dictatorship (1973-1985)- still can be perceived beyond the democratic transition of 1985.
