Ce travail présente une contribution au développement d'un capteur optique de fort champ électrique à basse fréquence (50-60 Hz). Le principe de mesure du capteur se fait à partir de l'effet électro-optique sur un cristal de niobate de lithium sans électrodes de contact. Le principe devient effectif par l'usage du montage statique à polarisation circulaire permettant de se retrouver directement dans la zone linéaire de transmittance optique du système. \n \nAprès un rappel sur les concepts de base de l'optique des milieux anisotropes et de l'effet électro-optique linéaire (communément appelé effet Pockels), une étude a été faite sur le choix de la meilleure configuration électro-optique offerte par le niobate de lithium. Par la suite, une modélisation par la méthode des éléments finis nous a permis de choisir parmi différentes sections possibles de cristal, celle qui correspondait le mieux à une distribution de champ interne uniforme. \n \nDes études expérimentales ont été réalisées conjointement à la modélisation pour caractériser le comportement du cristal vis à vis de l'effet électro-optique avec ou sans bague de protection. Après une brève introduction sur les capteurs à fibre optique, une explication exhaustive est donnée sur le design des pièces internes et le processus de fabrication du capteur. Ensuite, les essais du premier prototype du capteur optique de champ électrique sur les installations à haute tension sont présentés et discutés. Pour terminer, une discussion est présentée sur les améliorations à apporter sur le capteur et des solutions sont proposées. \n
