Abstract
Une bonne gestion de l'azote (N) permet de limiter les risques environnementaux tout en maximisant la productivité du blé panifiable. Trois méthodes diagnostiques [l'indice de nutrition azoté (INA), le lecteur de chlorophylle (SPAD-502) et le test de nitrate (N-NO3) du sol] ont donc été évaluées. Des essais de fertilisation (0 à 200 kg N ha"1) se sont déroulés dans trois régions du Québec (Lanaudière, Montérégie et St-Jean-sur-Richelieu) en 2004 et en 2005. L'étude a permis de déterminer une courbe de teneur critique en N (Ncr = 40,37 MS"0'60) exprimée en fonction de la biomasse aérienne (MS). Cette courbe était différente de celle établie par Justes et coll. (1994) en France. L'INA, calculé à partir des valeurs Ncr, était relié au rendement relatif par une relation linéaire plateau décrivant trois classes de nutrition azotée : INA< 0,77 : rendement maximal non atteint; 0,77 < INA < 1 : réponse variable; INA > 1 : rendement maximal atteint. L'indice de chlorophylle absolu était relié positivement à l'INA, mais cette relation variait selon le site. Les valeurs normalisées de chlorophylle n'ont pas été étudiées, car des conditions de saturation en azote n'ont pu être maintenu dans les parcelles de saturation. La dose d'azote économiquement optimale (Nop) en post-levée était reliée à la teneur en nitrate (N-NO3) dans les sols mesurée avant la montaison [Nop = 92,4 - 3,18(N-N03)]. L'intégration de ces outils à la régie du blé panifiable pourrait permettre d'optimiser l'utilisation de l'azote
