Abstract
"A doença de Crohn e a retocolite ulcerativa inespecífica (RCUI) são doenças gastrintestinais inflamatórias. Como podem afetar severamente a vida de seus portadores, o estudo objetivou investigar a eficácia adaptativa e o nível de alexitimia de pacientes. Investigou- se, ainda, o modo como cada uma dessas medidas correlacionava-se com a severidade dos sintomas gastrintestinais e com o tempo da doença. A amostra contou com 25 pacientes ambulatoriais portadores da doença de Crohn (52%) e da RCUI (48%). Utilizaram-se como instrumentos a Escala Diagnóstica Adaptativa Operacionalizada-Redefinida (EDAO-R) e a Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS). Obtiveram-se os seguintes resultados: 1. alto comprometimento na qualidade da adaptação e no nível de alexitimia, sem que houvesse, necessariamente, associação entre ambos; 2. a qualidade da adaptação não apresentou associação com a severidade da sintomatologia nem com o tempo da doença; 3. a alexitimia estava associada de maneira negativa à severidade dos sintomas gastrintestinais, mas não com o tempo da doença. Sugerem-se pesquisas com amostras mais representativas."
