Abstract
Inusuale caso clinico di emangiosarcoma di milza accessoria in un cane; la descrizione e i rilievi emersi sono messi a confronto con quanto riportato in letteratura.La malattia si manifesta con più frequenza nei cani anziani di sesso maschile e nelle femmine sterilizzate, anche se sono stati riscontrati casi in soggetti di tre anni di età; tra le razze più a rischio vis ono i Pastori tedeschi, i Labrador, i Golden Retriever e gli Schnauzer. I sintomi sono spesso aspecifci e correlati all'esistenza o meno di una disseminazione metastatica, alla rottura spontanea della massa tumorale, alla presenza di coagulopatie o di aritmie cardiache. Gli esami strumentali sono di ausilio per la formulazione di un sospetto diagnostico, ma solo l'esame istologico darà conferma della diagnosi. La terapia consiste nella chirurgia associata, o meno, a chemioterapia: diversi sono i protocolli chemioterapici suggeriti. I tempi di sopravvivenza sono comunque inferiori ad un anno.
