The three-county area in central Florida known as the Orlando Urban Area continues to experience ground-level ozone concentrations that are close to exceeding federal and state standards. In 2006, a project was conducted to identify the major sources of emissions and develop strategies to reduce emissions to try to prevent the area from becoming non-attainment. On-road sources were very significant, with passenger vehicles mostly responsible for VOC and diesel trucks mostly responsible for NOx. For non-road sources, significant emissions of VOC came from from recreational boating and lawn and garden equipment, while NOx emissions come mainly from construction activity. The power plants in the OUA were a significant source of NOx. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the 103rd AWMA Annual Conference and Exhibition (Alberta, Canada 6/22-25/2010).
