Abstract
Isabel Oyarzábal represents one of the women of the so called “Modern Women Generation” in the 1920s-1930s, characterised by her versatility and defence of women's rights. Self-taught, she developed a way of thinking linked to the idea of education as an engine for the progress of the nation, freedom and feminism, defended in her literary and journalistic production, but also in national and international circles where she explained the basic arguments for its defence. Her reflections were not only theory, but she put them into practice through her participation in women's associations or in European organisations, such as the League of Nations, where she was both learning and disseminating her considerations about society, relations between sexes and the world of labour. Likewise, her intense mobility in Spain, Scotland, Great Britain, Canada, Cuba and the United States helped her to transfer her life experience as a woman and a Spaniard to these Latin and Anglo-Saxon spaces.
