Abstract
Se realizó un estudio prospectivo, longitudinal, experimental de 50 pacientes con diagnostico de osteoartritis de rodilla que cumplían los criterios de ACR y que ingresaron durante el período de enero a junio de 2008 en el Servicio Nacional de Reumatología del H C Q "10 de octubre", con la finalidad de incorporarse aun programa integrador de rehabilitación, el cual incluyó calor infrarrojo, masajes y ejercicios.Se evaluó la Calidad ce vida relacionada con la respuesta al tratamiento mediante la utilización de una adaptación del cuestionario Western Ontario and Mc Master Universities (WOMAC) para evaluar el dolor, la rigidez y la capacidad funcional de los pacientes estudiados antes y después del tratamiento (1 mes).En la muestra de nuestro estudio predominaron los pacientes entre 60 y 70 años , sexo femenino, el tiempo de evolución más frecuente fue menos de 5 años, en la evaluación inicial el dolor, la rigidez y la capacidad funcional muestran en promedio afectaciones significativas y de una intensidad similar.El éxito del esquema terapéutico excede el 50% de mejoría para el dolor, la rigidez y la capacidad funcional (WOMAC) luego de la aplicación del tratamiento
