Abstract
Un nouveau guide sera bientôt disponible pour la conception et l'analyse des chaussées. Ce guide pourrait être adopté par les juridictions canadiennes dans un futur prochain. Plusieurs initiatives ont été lancés pour évaluer la validité du nouveau guide pour les conditions climatiques et le trafic du Canada. Cette communication présente une évaluation de quelques variantes de conception incorporées dans ce guide. Pour cette étude, on a considéré le cas d'une route construite sur un sol de fondation de faible capacité portante (module résilient faible). Les variantes étudiées comprennent des solutions structurales (changement des épaisseurs de couches de la route) et des solutions faisant intervenir la substitution des matériaux et l'amélioration de la qualité de la construction. La synthèse des résultats des différentes variantes (issues du nouveau guide de conception) a démontré que les solutions structurales ne permettent pas de minimiser l'orniérage pour satisfaire la limite prescrite. Cependant, le choix d'un matériau plus rigide et l'instauration d'une meilleure qualité de construction (pourcentage des vides plus petit) présentent des solutions viables pour le concepteur.
