Ce texte, qui accompagne l’exposition Pin Solitaire, aborde mon expérience de la pratique du commissariat d’expositions en art contemporain et comment cette expérience professionnelle a influé sur ma démarche artistique, ainsi que sur ma conception de l’exposition envisagée comme une oeuvre en soi. Dans ma recherche, qui explore le rôle de l’artiste-commissaire dans la réalisation d’une exposition mettant en espace les récits personnels et historiques portant sur le Rocher au Pin Solitaire, à Sherbrooke, je soulève deux interrogations : quelles sont les particularités qui définissent ma pratique de l’exposition en tant qu’artiste-commissaire et comment ce type d’exposition peut-il modifier l’engagement du public dans son expérience de l’oeuvre? Pour répondre à ces questions, je traite, tout d’abord, des pratiques contextuelles et de la pratique de l’artiste-commissaire qui se trouvent à être complémentaires dans ma pratique. Je relève ensuite les moments marquants de mon processus de recherche qui, une fois documentés, forment les matériaux premiers de l’exposition Pin Solitaire. Je termine, enfin, avec la projection de la mise en espace pour le Centre de diffusion et d’expérimentation de la maîtrise de l’UQÀM (26 au 30 janvier 2025), qui servira de laboratoire pour la préparation d’une ultime présentation de l’exposition Pin Solitaire au Musée d’histoire de Sherbrooke en mai 2025. _____________________________________________________________________________ MOTS-CLÉS DE L’AUTEUR : artiste-commissaire, exposition, dispositif scénographique, public, récit, lieu, Rocher au Pin Solitaire
