Abstract
The author examines motives of introducing the term «νυπστατον» into context of Christological polemics in the VIth century. The inference is made, based on the analysis of John the Grammarian’s of Caesaria doctrine (1st quarter of the VIth c.), that in his Christology term «νυπστατον» has a special meaning, diff erent from traditional «hypostasis»
