Abstract
The article examines the problem of understanding old age in the works of the Canadian playwright Morris Panych. The main subject of the study is the gerontosophical aspects of M. Panych’s drama. The research methodology is based on the following scientific methods: search and analytical (to collect information about Morris Panych’s dramaturgy), biographical (to reconstruct the stages of Morris Panych’s life), semiotic (to reveal the symbolism present in M. Panych’s plays), structural-typological (to identify the specifics of drama and typology of characters), comparative (to identify similar and different characteristics of elderly characters in Morris Panych’s plays), generalization method (to draw conclusions).
