Abstract
The early autumn landscapes and up-closes of Dufferin County's Grand River valley. Emerging as a glacial spillway 12 millennia ago, the Grand valley was inhabited by agrarian Attawandaron (Iroquoian) and nomadic Mississauga (Ojibwa) cultures. United Kingdom emigrants settled East Garafraxa ('the place of panthers') from 1821 onward. The iconic 1921 12th Line bowstring bridge and 1987 11th Line bridge provide scenic riverscape views. This slideshow presents the early autumnal landscape colours, featuring maple, eastern cedar, willow and wild apple, along with floral and fowl close-ups, including the Great Blue Heron.
