Abstract
The "Henry G. Dalton" was built in 1916 at Lorain, Ohio by the American Ship Building Company. She was of 7,810 gross ton. She was owned by the Interlake Steamship Company of Cleveland, Ohio until 1966. In 1966, she was owned by Pickands Mather and Company also of Cleveland, Ohio. She grounded June 10, 1969 near Grassy Island in the Detroit River. She suffered only minor damage. At Buffalo, New York, March 1972, while still laid up for the winter, the vessel's mess and galley caught fire. That summer she was sold to Dwor Metal Company of Port Colborne, Ontario for scrapping. She arrived at Gibraltar June 11, 1973. A few days later, she arrived at Vado, Italy where scrapping began.
