Abstract
Università di Siena, CISAI (Centro Interdipartimentale di Studi sull’America Indigena, 25-26 maggio 2004. La conferenza, letta al Convegno internazionale sull’Artico e l’Antartico organizzato dal Centro Interdipartimentale di Studi sull’America Indigena dell’Università di Siena, e di prossima pubblicazione negli Atti, indagava il ruolo dell’opera pittorica del Group of Seven in Canada nella scrittura di alcune autrici contemporanee. Da un lato, dunque, analisi dell’ekphrasis, dall’altro la collocazione dei risultati artistici di quel gruppo di pittori degli anni Venti in un discorso di ricerca di identità nazionale visto in termini di ideologia modernista postcoloniale, lungo le linee teoriche sviluppate di recente dalla “etnoestetica”. Il tema e l’approccio metodologico si propongono come di grande novità e originalità.
