Abstract
Le Ministère de l'environnement du Québec a eu le mandat de coordonner un projet de Stratégie québécoise sur les aires protégées (SQAP) qui devrait favoriser l'expansion du réseau d'aires protégées de 2,8 à 8% de la superficie du Québec. Le mémoire se veut une contribution au développement d'un réseau optimal d'aires protégées dans le respect d'une approche écosystémique basée sur les éléments permanents du milieu physique du Québec. Le but de l'étude est de proposer une méthodologie d'identification et de localisation des territoires d'intérêt pour la conservation. Le mémoire applique une planification systématique en conservation: (1) identifier l'unité de mesure de la biodiversité, (2) identifier des objectifs de conservation précis préférablement quantifiables, (3) reconnaître la contribution du réseau existant aux objectifs de conservation et (4) utiliser une méthodologie simple qui doit pouvoir localiser et agencer de nouvelles aires protégées complémentaires à celles existantes dans l'atteinte des objectifs. La localisation de nouvelles aires protégées basée sur le concept d'irremplaçabilité a été testée à la région administrative de l'Outaouais selon le niveau 5 du Cadre écologique de référence (CER)."--Résumé abrégé par UMI
