Des travaux de recherche permettant d'améliorer la méthodologie et les algorithmes de positionnement cinématique GPS précis et fiable sont actuellement menés par une des vingt équipes de recherche faisant partie du programme canadien de réseaux de centres dexcellence en géomatique GEOIDE (La GÉOmatique pour des Interventions et des Décisions éclairées). Dans ce projet, plusieurs axes de recherche sont considérés, à savoir: i) I'amélioration de la modélisation ionosphérique; ii) le positionnement relatif avec plusieurs stations de référence; iii) l'utilisation d'orbites précises en temps réel iv) l'intégration des observations Glonass; et v) la gérance de la communication radio. \n \nLes travaux de recherche initiaux portent sur la résolution fiable et efficace des ambiguïtés de phase afin d'améliorer le positionnement GPS en temps réel requis lors de levés bathymétriques Ceci permettra de bonifier le logiciel déjà développé pour la Garde côtière canadienne (GCC) et contribuera à la modernisation et à la réduction des coûts associés aux opérations bathymétriques. Des résultats sur l'interpolation des délais ionosphériques relatifs sont présentés dans cet article. L'information sur les délais ionosphériques est extraite de stations de référence distantes de 125 km le long du fleuve St-Laurent. Il est démontré que cette approche améliore significativement le taux de succès de la résolution des ambiguïtés des mesures de phase enregistrées par un récepteur GPS embarqué à bord d'un navire de sondage naviguant à mi-chemin entre deux stations de références.
