Defending champs move on to play Australia Saturday The defending champions at the Women's World Cup can use some stress relief after their Round of 16 match. Japan survived a close call against tournament first-timer the Netherlands in a 2-1 win in Vancouver. The Dutch entered the final minutes down by 2 goals, but managed to score in the second minute of stoppage time, and nearly tied the game before the clock finally ran out. Japan coach Norio Sasaki said after the game \I'm sorry we kept you in suspense until the very end.\ For the Netherlands, the close loss is doubly disappointing--it eliminates the team from the World Cup, AND since three other European squads made the quarterfinals, the Netherlands miss out on automatically qualifying for next year's Olympic tournament. Japan will move on to play Australia in the quarterfinals Saturday in Edmonton.
