Mentesa Oretana (Villanueva de la Fuente, Ciudad Real) fue una ciudad relevante e histórica localizada\njunto a la Vía Augusta, sobre la cual se han venido desarrollando y publicando estudios arqueológicos\na partir de 1996. En esta localidad se encuentran elementos arqueológicos correspondientes a un\npoblamiento continuado desde la Edad del Bronce hasta la actualidad.\nEl objetivo de este trabajo es presentar los resultados inéditos de las excavaciones arqueológicas sistemáticas\nque desde 2003 se han desarrollado en el paraje denominado “Los Toriles”. Entre los hallazgos\nmás significativos están su muralla ibérica, un área urbana y dos de sus necrópolis, fechadas mediante\nradiocarbono entre las épocas tardoantigua e islámica.\nLa información expuesta contribuye al avance del conocimiento sobre los hábitos urbanos y funerarios en\nlas ciudades históricas de la Meseta Sur.
