Les risques d'érosion et de submersion marine sont en constante augmentation pour plusieurs municipalités côtières de l'est du Québec. Alors qu'ils sont exacerbés par la pression des changements climatiques, plusieurs acteurs territoriaux entament des démarches de planification pour mieux anticiper les aléas côtiers et s'adapter. Pour faire face à la complexité d'une telle démarche, impliquant une pluralité d'acteurs et d'échelles territoriales, la science montre que les outils de mises en situation appelés « jeux sérieux » se démarquent comme approches de médiation et d'expérimentation. Proches des « labs », ils peuvent agir comme outils de transmission de connaissances et d'engagement des parties prenantes. Mais qu'en est-il plus particulièrement? Comment les jeux sérieux s'insèrent-ils dans une démarche de planification territoriale? Quelle perception s'en font les acteurs territoriaux? Par une approche qui combine analyse documentaire et mise à l'épreuve d'un jeu sérieux, nous cherchons à saisir l'intérêt d'un tel outil dans une démarche territoriale de l'adaptation. L'évaluation d'un jeu par des méthodes d'observation, de discussions de groupe et d'entretiens semi-dirigés invite à voir son effet mobilisateur et sa capacité à initier la discussion sur un enjeu vécu. Les professionnels montrent un intérêt marqué et un engagement fort dans les mises en situation proposées. Cela dit, les répercussions à long terme d'un tel outil sont encore peu documentées. La mise à l'épreuve répétée d'un jeu et la multiplicité des méthodes d'évaluation sont requises pour établir l'impact sur les connaissances acquises et la perception des joueurs.
