Abstract
This article makes an assessment of the combat of La Federal, the first confrontation of Ernesto Che Guevara in front of column No. 8 "Ciro Redondo" in the invasion campaign of 1958 in Cuba, which at the same time was the first combat developed in the plain , during the period of the armed struggle against the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista. It is based on the initial conditions that led to the invasion to the west of the country, the process of organizing the invading column, the transfer through the eastern province and the situation in which they arrived at the plains of the province of Camagüey, the territory where this was developed. combat. The article provides a detailed description of the combat and its results, the links with the other invading column led by Camilo Cienfuegos, noting that despite the many difficulties faced, Che successfully fulfilled the difficult task entrusted by the Commander in Chief Fidel Castro. For its elaboration, numerous digital publications and some written texts referring to this historical event were taken into account.
