Abstract
Le Paradis Fantastique (1966) est une œuvre commune de Niki de Saint Phalle et Jean Tinguely, réalisée pour représenter la scène artistique contemporaine française à l’Exposition universelle de Montréal de 1967. L’œuvre a par la suite été exposée à Buffalo et à New York, aux États-Unis avant d’être donnée au Musée d’art Moderne de Stockholm (Moderna Museet) en 1971. Son installation dans la capitale suédoise fait l’objet de vives discussions. Par conséquence, le groupe de sculptures a été déplacé vers un endroit moins visible en 1987. Depuis 2018, un mouvement a vu le jour en faveur de son retour à son emplacement d’origine. Ce mémoire a pour objectif d’analyser l’œuvre dans ces différents lieux d’exposition et d’étudier les conséquences de ces déplacements et replacements. L’étude montre que l’œuvre est influencée par les espaces et les temporalités dans lesquels elle s’inscrit. Une évolution dans la forme et la manière dont elle est perçue a été dégagée.
