L'Église de Québec est aujourd'hui confrontée à une désaffection qui l'oblige à reconsidérer son mode de transmission de l'expérience chrétienne. L'Église était principalement habilitée à transmettre la foi par l'enseignement. Il nous apparaît qu'elle doit maintenant envisager de prendre en charge non seulement l'initiation sacramentelle, mais la totalité de l'initiation chrétienne afin de pallier au désengagement ou à l'inaptitude relative de la presque totalité des institutions sociales contemporaines (famille, école, etc.). Nous proposons le catéchuménat comme voie d'avenir de transmission de la foi dont l'essentiel est l'expérience pascale. Nous nous appuyons sur le fait que le catéchuménat est étroitement associé au transmettre chrétien dans des contextes de pluralisme; ensuite parce qu'il est fondé sur l'anthropologie de l'initiation et qu'il correspond à la pédagogie de la révélation de Dieu. Pour toutes ces considérations, le catéchuménat nous apparaît comme l'une des voies d'avenir pour l'Église de Québec à la recherche de nouvelles perspectives pour accompagner l'homme d'aujourd'hui dans sa rencontre de Dieu.
