Abstract
Komposisi “Medini” adalah merupakan komposisi musik absolut yang mempunyai bentuk divertimento. Divertimento ini memiliki tiga movement, yang terinspirasi akan pengalaman perjalanan penulis menuju sebuah tempat bernama Perkebunan Teh Medini yang terletak di Gunung Ungaran, Jawa Tengah, Indonesia. Perjalanan menuju Perkebunan Teh Medini ini dapat ditempuh dengan menggunakan sepeda motor. Alur cerita tentang pengalaman perjalanan menuju ke Perkebunan Teh Medini hanya dijadikan acuan dalam membuat komposisi ini. Sesuai dengan definisi divertimento sebagai musik hiburan, komposisi ini lebih bersifat menghibur tanpa harus memahami alur cerita yang ada dalam komposisi ini. Penggunaan tonalitas yang berganti-ganti dalam tiap movement dan ritme sinkopasi banyak diaplikasikan untuk menunjang sisi hiburan dalam komposisi ini. Komposisi ini disusun untuk kuintet gesek. Format kuintet gesek yang dipakai dalam komposisi ini adalah kuartet string (biola satu, biola dua, biola alto, dan cello) ditambah dengan cello. Pemilihan cello sebagai instrument kelima karena cello dapat berperan ganda dengan baik, yaitu sebagai melodi dan sebagai bas.
