“Que la justicia y la paz fluyan” es el tema del Tiempo ecuménico de la Creación de este año, inspirado en las palabras del profeta Amós: «Que el derecho corra como el agua, y la justicia como un torrente inagotable» (5,24). Esta expresiva imagen de Amós nos dice lo que Dios desea. Dios quiere que reine la justicia, que es esencial para nuestra vida de hijos a imagen de Dios, como el agua lo es para nuestra supervivencia física. Esta justicia debe surgir allí donde sea necesaria, no esconderse demasiado en lo profundo o desaparecer como el agua que se evapora, antes de podernos sostener. Dios quiere que cada uno busque ser justo en cada situación; se esfuerce siempre en vivir según sus leyes y, por tanto, en hacer posible que la vida florezca en plenitud. Cuando buscamos ante todo el reino de Dios (cf. Mt 6,33), manteniendo una justa relación con Dios, la humanidad y la naturaleza, entonces la justicia y la paz pueden fluir, como una corriente inagotable de agua pura, nutriendo a la humanidad y a todas las criaturas. En julio de 2022, en un hermoso día de verano, medité sobre estos argumentos durante mi peregrinación a las riberas del lago Santa Ana, en la provincia de Alberta, en Canadá. Ese lago ha sido y sigue siendo un lugar de peregrinación para muchas generaciones de indígenas...
