Le fumier et le compost sont des alternatives économiques aux engrais commerciaux, mais vous êtes peut-être assis sur un autre trésor qui se trouve dans votre terre et qui ne demande qu’à être utilisé : les roches phosphatées inorganiques. Utiliser la roche n’est pas nouveau en soi. Dans de nombreuses usines à travers le monde, les roches phosphatées sont traitées chimiquement (avec de l’acide sulfurique par exemple) pour dissoudre le phosphate et l’utiliser comme engrais pour les cultures. Au milieu des années 90, des chercheurs de l’Institut de recherche minière du Zimbabwe et de l’Université de Guelph au Canada ont mis au point un engin qui permet d’obtenir, en mélangeant des roches phosphatées avec un triple engrais super-phosphaté, des pastilles propres et faciles à utiliser.
