Abstract
Built by the Craig Shipbuilding Company of Toledo, Ohio in 1901, the "Iroquois" sailed the Great Lakes until 1906 and then again from 1920-1927. She also sailed from west coast ports of Seattle and Vancouver, traveling via the St. Lawrence River, the Panama Canal, and around Cape Horn during the years between 1927-1973. In 1973 she was renamed the "Alaska Shell" by her new owners Alaska Shell A Corporation of Juneau, Alaska. The ship sank April 15, 1983 in Akutan, Alaska.
