Abstract
The "Alberta" was one of a fleet owned by the Canadian Pacific Railway. She was built in 1883 by C. Connell and Company in Whiteinch, Scotland. She carried cargo across the Atlantic to Montreal and Quebec. When the "Alberta" was unloaded, she was taken to Cantin's Dry Dock, Montreal, cut in two, and towed to Buffalo, New York via Lake Ontario and the Welland Canal. She was reassembled at the Buffalo Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company. The "Alberta" began carrying freight on the Great Lakes April 11, 1884. She was scrapped in 1948 at Indiana Harbor, Indiana.
