Abstract
Se estudia la posibilidad de aproximar un operador débilmente compacto o una forma bilineal por operadores o formas bilineales que alcanzan su norma, tanto en espacios de funciones continuas como en C*-álgebras. En el ambiente de los espacios de funciones continuas, se demuestran que cualquier operador débilmente compacto se puede aproximar por operadores débilmente compactos que alcanzan su norma. El mismo resultado se prueba para formar bilineales continuas. Se obtienen asimismo versiones no conmutativas de los anteriores resultados. Más concretamente, se obtienen resultados afirmativos para C*-álgebras cuyo bidual es un álgebra de von Neumannn de tipo I finito.
