La Escuela de Estudios Árabes fue inaugurada el 21 de noviembre de 1932 con el fin de profundizar en el conocimiento del pasado arabo-islámico de la Península Ibérica y en las relaciones con países arabófonos. Joaquina Albarracín estudia Filología 1942 y 1945, es, por tanto, una de las primeras investigadoras en formarse en la Escuela de Estudios Árabes.
