El presente trabajo tiene como propósito acercar los niños de preescolar a la estructura aditiva a través de la utilización de material manipulativo favoreciendo el desarrollo del pensamiento numérico. Se ha identificado la necesidad de brindar elementos conceptuales y metodológicos, en este aspecto, a las docentes de preescolar en la Institución Educativa Villa del Socorro con el fin de fortalecer sus prácticas cotidianas. Para lo anterior se establece la propuesta Proyecto de Aula, para dar respuesta a aspectos importantes como: características y necesidades de los niños en edad preescolar, dimensiones del desarrollo, principios de la educación preescolar y referentes técnicos. El trabajo se presenta como experiencia de aula contenida en el diseño de la Investigación Acción Educativa; la realización de las diferentes etapas del proceso ofrece como resultado los elementos centrales con los cuales ha sido establecida la propuesta. El proyecto, implementado con niños en edad preescolar, ha sido valorado para determinar sus fortalezas y debilidades.
