Abstract
The Consultative Meeting was organized by the ECA Population Division with financial support for some of the participants for the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) of Canada. The purpose of the Consultative Meeting was to discuss ways of establishing POPIN-AFPICA to serve as a regional population information centre for the African region. The meeting was attended by representatives for Population Division New York, UNFPA New York, ILO, UNESCO (Dakar), Sahel Institute. RIPS in Accra, IPPF/CAFS in Nairobi, OAU and IDRC (Canada). Other ECA Divisions which participated in the meeting were: PADIS, Statistics Division, Socio-Economic Research and Planning Division and Social Development Division.
