Abstract
Tämän opinnäytetyön tarkoitus oli kehittää syöpäpotilaan palliatiivista hoitotyötä terveyskeskuksen potilasosastolla. Opinnäytetyön teoriaosuudesta, syöpäpotilaan palliatiivinen hoitotyö pidettiin alustus, joka esitettiin terveyskeskuksen hoitohenkilökunnalle. Työyhteisön tarpeisiin suunnattu opinnäytetyön tavoitteena oli lisätä tietoa syöpäpotilaan oireenmukaisesta hoidosta hoitohenkilökunnalle. Aiheen valintaan on vaikuttanut valtakunnallinen saattohoitosuositus, jonka tavoitteena on tehdä saattohoidosta suunnitelmallisempaa ja ohjata saattohoidon käytäntöjä. Opinnäytetyön aihe on työelämälähtöinen, koska suositus edellyttää terveydenhuollon ammattilaisten palliatiivista hoitotyön osaamista perustuen lääke- ja hoitotieteellisiin tutkimuksiin sekä potilaan tarpeisiin ja toiveisiin. \n \nOpinnäytetyön teoreettisessa osuudessa käsitellään syöpää sairastavan potilaan palliatiivista hoitotyötä. Siinä keskitytään syöpäpotilaan fyysisiin oireisiin ja niiden lievittämiseen palliatiivisen hoitotyön keinoin. Opinnäytetyö toteutettiin toiminnallisena opinnäytetyönä. Toiminnallinen osuus toteutettiin terveyskeskuksen henkilökunnan kehittämispäivässä. Tilaisuudessa oli alustus, joka perustui opinnäytetyön teoriaosuuteen, ja aihetta käsittelevä keskusteluosuus. Tilaisuudessa esiteltiin kivunmittaamiseen tarkoitetut VAS (Visual analog scale) -mittari sekä moni oireiselle syöpäpotilaalle kehitetty ESAS (Edmonton Symptom Assesment System) oirekartoitusmenetelmä. Menetelmät auttavat kartoittamaan oireita ja arvioimaan hoitotyön vaikuttavuutta. \n \nKuolevan potilaan hoitaminen on vaativa, arvokas ja vastuullinen tehtävä, joka tarvitsee ammattitaitoista henkilökuntaa. Tämän opinnäytetyön teoriatietoa voidaan jatkossa hyödyntää syöpää sairastavan potilaan hoitotyössä terveyskeskuksessa. Mittausmenetelmien antaman tiedon avulla voidaan kehittää syöpäpotilaalle annettavaa palliatiivista hoitotyötä. Jatkossa voitaisiin tutkia VAS- ja ESAS- mittareiden käyttöä palliatiivisessa hoitotyössä ja niiden vaikutusta hoitokäytäntöihin
