On the coverOn the cover of this town report is a photo of the Schuler property, located on Cary Hill Road in Hartford, which was damaged during the August 21, 2009 tornado that hit Hartford, Sumner, West Paris, and Norway, Maine.Hartford records indicate that one building was destroyed, two buildings had major damage and approximately 10 buildings had minor damage from the tornado.Numerous acres of forestland suffered extensive damage from the storm.The affected towns did not receive enough municipal or public damage to qualify for assistance from MEMA; so that meant that there was no assistance available to the property owners either.
