Traçage thermique avec fibre optique pour la mesure des flux d'eau souterraine dans un aquifère granulaire

Abstract
L’hétérogénéité des flux dans les aquifères est importante car elle contrôle le transport des contaminants. Récemment, les flux d’eau souterraine ont été quantifiés le long de profils verticaux avec le traçage thermique avec fibre optique (FO). Le but de nos travaux était de poursuivre le développement de la mise-en-œuvre et de l’interprétation de ces essais dans les aquifères granulaires. Des essais ont été réalisés à trois sites de l’aquifère deltaïque de Valcartier, près de Québec, Canada. Les câbles FO ont été installés par enfoncement au même endroit qu’un sondage au piézocône donnant des indications des hydrofaciès et de la perméabilité. L’interprétation avec une solution analytique représentant le transfert de chaleur et l’advection a permis l’estimation de la conductivité thermique et des flux. Les flux mesurés couvrent pratiquement un ordre de grandeur, allant de 0,1 à 0,8 m/jour et ils montrent une bonne corrélation avec les réponses du piézocône reliées aux hydrofaciès. Les profils réalisés côte-à-côte montrent une très bonne reproductibilité. Les essais de traçage thermique permettent d’identifier les hydrofaciès avec une résolution verticale de l’ordre du mètre et fournissent un excellent proxy de la perméabilité. Ces essais sont un ajout important aux méthodes existantes de caractérisation des aquifères granulaires.
