Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

This thesis investigates the factors driving the price of dairy production quota both qualitatively and quantitatively. The qualitative section includes a review of possible factors at the farm level, provincial and national levels, international level and financial level collected through previous literature and interviews. The quantitative section uses a net present value adaptive expectations model to examine traditional economic and possible policy factors driving the price of Ontario dairy production quota for the period of time between September 1996 and April 2008.Independent variables in the model include the lagged price of quota, a technology measure (quantity of milk sold per cow) and two intercept shifting dummy variables to represent the implementation of the commercial export milk program (July 2000) and the change in provincial quota exchange policy (December 2006).Ontario dairy quota prices were positively affected by the technology measure and negatively affected by the two policy changes.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
