Abstract
According to the global airlines trade group, International Air Transport Association, the airline industry is set to post $33 BILLION in net profits this year--a record--thanks to cheaper fuel and passenger flight demand. Just to give you an idea...2014 profits came in at 17.4 BILLION dollars..about HALF of what they are today. There's more--profits are expected to be even LARGER next year. The I-A-T-A says global demand 6.7 percent from last year and is expected to rise a further 6.9 percent in 2016. Since oil prices are expected to stay low, the group forecasts that airlines will spend 135-BILLION on fuel next year...down about a quarter from 180-BILLION in 2015.
